test results - please ring after 1pm

In order to preserve patient confidentiality, results can only be given to the patient concerned or the parent or legal guardian of a child if under 16

Please ring after 1pm for your test results.

This is because the phone lines are busy before then with people ringing for appointments.

If the tests have been ordered by your GP, the results will usually come back to the practice. If tests have been ordered by a specialist at the hospital, the results may go back to him, not to us.
Therefore, if you are meant to come and see us after seeing the specialist, it is better to leave it for up to two weeks, then telephone to see if the results are in.
It happens quite a lot that patients make an appointment specifically to talk about results from the hospital- and they have not yet arrived. The same can go for hospital outpatient appointments. It is best to ring us first.
