We are proud to report we are an Armed Forces Veteran-Friendly Accredited GP Practice.
Dr Connel is a reservist and has a special interest in Veterans Meducak care.
A veteran is anyone who has served for at least one day in the armed forces. This is not only someone who has fought in the world wars but also younger veterans who have served their country, for example in Bosnia, Iran and Afghanistan.
This means that, as part of the health commitments of the Armed Forces Covenant, we have a dedicated clinician who has a specialist knowledge of military related health conditions and veteran specific health services. This is important in helping ex-forces to get the best care and treatment. Dr.Connell is our Veteran Champion.
If you are ex-forces, please let your GP or a member of our reception team know to help ensure you are getting the best possible care. There are dedicated NHS services and support which are available specifically to veterans. These include the Veterans’ Mental Health, Transition, Intervention and Liaison Service (TILS), hearing loss and tinnitus services, and mobility equipment support.
Please see further information concerning healthcare under The Armed Forces Covenant which can be accessed by ex-service personnel.
We are conscious that some patients registered at Shay Lane Medical Centre may be affected by current events in Afghanistan. If recent events have affected you and you wish to seek help, please come forward.
